Maritime carbon calculators and compliance guides

EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, CII, UK ETS, SEEMP and the IMO Net-Zero Framework: what each rule asks of a ship, how the figures are calculated, and a calculator to try it on your own ship.

Example. A 63,500 dwt bulk carrier burning 4,000 t of heavy fuel oil and 450 t of gas oil over 33,000 nautical miles in 2026, with 75% of its fuel used on EU-related voyages, is rated E on the CII (attained 6.63 against a required 4.35), owes €659,979 in EU allowances at €85 each, and faces a FuelEU penalty of €146,456, or about €25,220 if the deficit is pooled.
CII calculator: attained CII, required CII and ratingEnter a year's fuel and distance and see the ship's carbon intensity rating under MARPOL Annex VI, the required CII up to 2030 and how far it is from the next band.EU ETS for shipping: what a ship owes in allowancesEnter a year's fuel and where it was burned, and see the allowances due under the EU Emissions Trading System and what they cost at the price you choose.FuelEU Maritime calculator: GHG intensity, balance and penaltyEnter the fuel a ship used and where, and see its well-to-wake GHG intensity, its compliance balance, the penalty, and what pooling the deficit would cost.FuelEU pooling: rules, prices and partnersA FuelEU deficit can be covered by a ship in surplus for far less than the penalty. Check a ship's balance and compare the penalty with pooling.SEEMP Part III and the CII corrective action planThe ship operational carbon intensity plan, in the IMO model form, with every figure worked through and sourced. Ready to edit in one working day.UK ETS for shipping: scope, cost and deadlinesThe UK ETS covers domestic voyages and port time from 1 July 2026. See which voyages count and what a ship's UK allowances cost.IMO Net-Zero Framework: targets and costsThe draft global fuel standard for shipping, not yet adopted. See the targets and what a ship's current fuel mix would cost from 2028.Look up a ship's emissions and carbon costSearch by ship name or IMO number.
